It was in June of the curriculum year 2016-2017 when Amlan National High School started its first-ever Senior High School program. That time, there were five (5) teachers hired to teach who were 1) John Ivan R. Catacutan, 2) James De Gracia, 3) Mitchelle A. Dael, 4) Raissa Mae T. Damaso and 5) Emma Concepcion S. Reso-or. The said Senior High School was situated at the Main Campus of Amlan National High School in Mag-abo, Amlan, Negros Oriental. The following tracks and strands were offered: General Academic Strand (GAS) with 53 students; Technical – Vocational and Livelihood Track (TVL) – Bread and Pastry Production (BPP) with 41 students; TVL – Horticulture with 9 students, and; TVL – Dressmaking with 0 enrollees. These accumulated to 103 students for the first semester of the said school year. Though ANHS – SHS had its shaky and humble beginnings, immediately on its first semester, all Bread and Pastry Production students had their TESDA assessment in which all of them fortunately passed.
In the second semester, there were a total of 91 students enrolled in the respective tracks and strands. 50 students were enrolled for GAS, 33 BPP, and 8 for Horticulture.
Students were engaged in different academic and co-curricular activities, which harnessed their skills and capabilities in their chosen tracks and strands for Senior High School.
To fast track the events, another school year has come – 2017-2018. The Senior High School students who were then enrolled have already leveled up to Grade 12. ANHS had the same offerings, with one strand added to the list which was Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM). During this year, there was a good number of increases in the total enrolment of the student. As they say, people just come and go. Mrs. Marlene Aragones, the principal of Amlan NHS was transferred to Tampi High School in the said year. Mr. Arvin T. Ladion replaced her position, who was the principal of Tampi High School at that time. Due to the increase in the SHS student populace, teachers from the District of Sta. Catalina who is living in Amlan was transferred to ANHS. These were Mrs. Lalaine B. Rebuyas, Ms. Farrah B. Sedillo, and Ms. Noreen H. Tapis. All of them are Amlanganons.
For Grade 11, 76 students were enrolled in GAS, 68 students were enrolled in TVL – BPP, and both Horticulture and Dressmaking had none. Meanwhile, Grade 12 GAS students were 49, and TVL – BPP had 35. These summed to 92 students for the entire first semester.
In the following semester, Grade 11 GAS enrollees lowered a little to 74 while BPP had 66. For Grade 12, GAS had 49 students enrolled. For Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track --Bread and Pastry Production (NC II), Cookery (NC II), Food and Beverage Services (NC II), 33 students were enrolled. For Horticulture, 8 students enrolled and Dress Making NCII, 0 students enrolled for a total of 90 students enrolled in the same school year.
During this school year, the teachers and students were engaged in different co-curricular and academic activities that harness and develop each skill and capability. The teachers and students have also transferred to its newly constructed Four (4) story building with 8 classrooms. It was a happy year for the teachers and students since we were given resources and materials needed for the teachers and students. It was also not an easy journey for both students and teachers because of the few resources and materials given. But it was not a hindrance to having quality education for all students.
It was also in this school year were the production of the first batch of Senior High School graduates. Amlan National High School was very happy and proud to produce its first-ever graduates of Senior High School Program under the Department of Education in the Philippines.
At present, ANHS-Senior High School is proud to have another increase in the population of students enrolled. The same official tracks and strands were offered by the school. Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Track – Bread and Pastry Production NCII/Food and Beverages Services NCII/Cookery NCII, Horticulture/Agrifishery Arts, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) and Academic Strand – Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS).
